Prayer: Why is it Important?

Prayer is so much more than simply asking God for things we want. It’s about being in His presence. It’s about passion, specifically, a passion to be with Him. For the believer, the call to prayer is a mandate. Martin Luther, the father of the Reformation, said: “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” True, but how seriously do we take our mandate? We know God is always with us, but too often we fail to take the time to speak with Him. If God is our best friend, why are we not talking with Him? It’s all about passion and developing a hunger to be with Him. It is our fervent desire here at First Orlando that our people learn to be a praying people—a people that seeks God with all our hearts, souls and minds!

The Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry is a vital outreach to the people of First Orlando.  We want to hear from you when you have a prayer need and encourage you to call our prayer line at any time.  The phones are accessible 24 hours a day.  If you receive a voice mail message when you call, please leave your prayer request on the phone so that the next person coming in will be able to pray for you.  Please contact us at 407-514-4405 or email to prayer@firstorlando.com.  If this is an urgent request and it is during our working hours from 8AM – 5PM please call 407-514-4340 and you will be able to talk to someone immediately.

The Prayer Center

The purpose of the Prayer Center, located near Welcome Center A, adjascent to the worship center, is for you to experience the power and presence of the Lord Jesus and to develop a passion for prayer. Please feel free to visit us and lift up your petitions to the Lord.

Prayer Partners

Prayer partners are needed in three different areas, including prayer walking & fasting, prayer center & intercessory prayer.  To volunteer, please pick up a Prayer Center brochure in Welcome Centers A & B and fill out the forms, or call 407-514-4340 or e-mail Audrey Andersen
